The SSA89 Verification report verifies whether a person’s name, Date-of-Birth (DOB), and Social Security Number (SSN) match the data in Social Security Administration’s records. Each SSN, name and DOB combination is submitted to the Social Security Administration via their CBSV (Consent Based SSN Verification service) and will be returned as either “SUCCESSFUL” (Match) or “UNSUCCESSFUL” (No Match). If applicable, SSA will return “DECEASED” when the input matches a record on the Social Security Administration’s Death Master File.
